The Challenge

The client had a factory floor with dozens of legacy Modbus RTU and PROFIBUS devices that generated valuable production data but had no way to relay it to their cloud ERP system. Downtime was costly and manual data collection was error-prone.

Our Solution

We built a custom Yocto-based Linux image for an NXP i.MX8 SOM. A C++ daemon handled Modbus TCP/RTU polling and protocol translation, publishing normalised JSON payloads over MQTT to AWS IoT Core. A Flutter-based touchscreen dashboard gave floor managers real-time KPI visibility without internet dependency.

The gateway reduced manual data entry by 100%, enabled predictive maintenance alerts that cut unplanned downtime by 35%, and provided ROI within 8 months of deployment.
